Remember Robles

Thu Apr 24, 2008, 8:13 AM
It's no secret I am a slacker artist.

Professional procrastinator.

I honestly don't achieve optimum performance unless I have some impossible deadline sitting on my shoulders. Give me a month to work on something and I'm hitting the Playstation. Give me a day and I'm a drawing machine. I produce anywhere. At the airport. At a kinkos. On the subway. Whatever it takes to get the job done. Of course, afterward it's back to slacker-time...

Andy Robles was that guy that ALWAYS worked like he was on that deadline. At Otakon when us artists are in the hotel room with enough games and gaming consoles to be our own arcade, Andy would typically be on the floor in the corner somewhere drawing someone's commission.

When 5 o'clock hit, and some of the guys hit the bar for happy hour, Andy Robles was that guy that stays in the Artist Alley till well past closing.

Andy was almost always drawing.

Andy Robles also taught me how to play Halo. Andy played a mean game of Halo. That's a detail you might not get to look at him sitting in Artist's Alley.

I don't know how long he'd been suffering from the illness that took him. But then, I didn't get to know alot about Andy Robles.

We lost him far too soon.

He will be greatly missed.

I felt physically ill when I read about his passing.

Too young and too talented to go.

We just recieved a phone call from Tony the Yodelling Shetland Pony. I'm afraid he can't make it tonight because he's a little hoarse.
yes, he was a swell guy, wish I could've gone to otakon last year and see him on more time. -_- Praise the Lord on his safe journey to heaven.

Oh man.... I had no idea he was ill at all!...

I didn't get the chance to meet the guy, but I idolized him and his work and really wished I had lived longer in NJ to come meet him and the rest of you guys in NYC.

My deepest, most heart felt sympathies go out to his family and friends, may he rest in peace...

Very sad news. I didn't really know him very well, but we hung out in a group once at AC 2005. When something like this happens, it always reminds me how much I take everything for granted everyday. RIP dude.

It was a shocker for me to find out he passed away. Wish I would have known him more though. Still, I hope he is in a better place where he is now. God rest his soul.

Man, this guy's stuff was pretty good. Too bad he had to go so soon. Just out of curiosity and respect, what was he suffering from?

I'm sorry to hear about this. I don't understand what's going on lately. I just lost a friend last week from an underlying illness. He just left us all with no warning. I'm at peace that he is now in a peaceful, pain-free place...it's just so hard to see someone so young and around your age leave so early.
From the sound of that, he was a guy to look up to.
